Genesis:

 

As I progress in my woodworking journey I’ve been asked several times if I was about to change career path. The answer is NO, I have a job I like, I don’t think what I build is nowhere near good enough to be commercialised and most importantly it is a hobby (a consuming one, but a hobby nonetheless).

However, why not try and make it a little more than just a hobby, and something that could benefit more than just me?

Concept:

 

I will put items up for sale in the e-shop below. For every sale, I will commit the portion allocated to man hours and margin to a charity (see the below list). This way, I can continue to hone my skills (and let’s be honest, enjoy myself), while providing buyers unique pieces and supporting the community and initiatives I care about.

Hence the “Non-for-profit” characteristic of this store…

As a buyer, all I expect from you is:

• Patience: it’s not a full-time job, I work at my own pace!

• Inputs: most pieces are unique and made to be customized so your ideas and suggestions on the design, finish, etc, are very important!

• Enjoy your purchase, whatever it is and let me know how you’re going with it; feedback is a key ingredient for improvement!

A few “rules” to finish:

• To make it “simpler” for me to manage, I pre-selected 6 charities for the buyer to choose from

• I will also apply a systematic carbon offset on each invoice (no option for the buyer to opt out)

• I will try to align prices to market as much as possible so that people don’t have to pay for my slowness

• Because of the potential delay between order and delivery, full payment is only required before delivery
